Tijuana is the most-crossed international border on the planet, welcoming millions of visitors a year. Yet most people driving through never stop to discover what’s really here: a booming food scene, jaw-dropping street murals, craft breweries that rival Portland’s best, and a cultural energy unlike any city in North America.
Our local bilingual guides — born and raised in Tijuana — take you past the tourist-facing Avenida Revolución and into the real city: the Pasajes (hidden art passages), the taco stalls that only locals know, the craft beer bars with views over the canyon, and the stories behind every mural and landmark along the way. This is not a bus tour. This is your afternoon with a Tijuana local who happens to be a fantastic guide.
(approx. $1,500 MXN) Per Person 6+ Hours
No hidden fees. No surprise costs. Everything listed below is covered in your $80/person price. The only thing not included is your food and drinks at the taco stops and beer pubs — and that’s the fun part you’ll want to pay for.
Once you cross the border, all getting around is on us. We navigate the city so you can focus on experiencing it — no taxis, no rideshares, no figuring out directions in a new city.
Your guide is from Tijuana — fluent in English and Spanish, knows every story behind every street, and will take you to places you'd never find on your own. This is the tour's biggest value.
The Tijuana Arch, Avenida Revolución, the Pasaje Rodríguez art passage, Plaza Santa Cecilia, local markets — plus off-the-beaten-path stops most guided tours skip entirely.
We visit Tijuana's most celebrated taco stands — birria, carne asada, fish tacos, and more. Your guide explains what to order, what makes each one special, and the history behind the dish.
Tijuana has a thriving craft beer scene that rivals any city in California. We visit a local brewery or craft bar — your guide explains TJ's beer culture and the story of the neighborhood scene.
Tijuana's street art scene is world-class. The Pasaje Rodríguez and surrounding passages are covered in murals by local and international artists. We walk through with context, not just a selfie stop.
Real moments from real tours. This is the Tijuana most San Diego locals have never seen — and the one our guests can’t stop talking about.

Straight answers to the most common questions about our Tijuana walking tour from San Diego — including the safety questions everyone wants to ask but feels awkward about. Ask them. We love them.
Yes — and we say that with complete confidence based on 500+ completed tours without a single safety incident. Tijuana is a city of 2 million people and one of North America’s most exciting emerging tourism destinations. The areas we visit — Avenida Revolución, Pasaje Rodríguez, local markets, and craft beer bars — are active, vibrant, and welcoming to visitors every day of the week. Our guides are Tijuana locals who know every block, every shortcut, and every story. You are never navigating alone, never in the wrong part of the city, and never second-guessing where you are. The single biggest factor in a safe Tijuana visit is having a local guide — and that’s exactly what we provide for the entire 6 hours.
Yes — you need a valid US passport or passport card to re-enter the United States after your tour. Going into Mexico, a state ID is technically accepted, but you absolutely need your passport to return. We strongly recommend every person in your group carries their US passport on the day of the tour. Without it, re-entry into the US could be significantly delayed or even denied by US Customs. Our guide will remind the whole group about this at the meeting point before crossing. If anyone in your group doesn’t have a passport, contact us and we’ll help you figure out the best plan before your date.
Crossing south into Mexico is fast — typically 5 to 10 minutes. You simply walk through the turnstile, no vehicle inspection, no long lines. Crossing back north into the US takes longer — usually 20 to 60 minutes on weekdays, and up to 90 minutes on busy weekend afternoons. We plan the tour timing to account for this so you’re never stressed or rushing. Your guide waits with you through the entire return crossing and makes the experience as smooth as possible. The San Ysidro Port of Entry is the single busiest land border crossing in the world — it’s actually a fascinating thing to experience firsthand.
Avenida Revolución — known locally as “La Revu” — is the most iconic street in Tijuana and one of the most historically significant streets in all of Baja California. During US Prohibition in the 1920s and 1930s, Americans flooded south to Tijuana for alcohol, nightlife, and entertainment, and La Revu was the center of it all. Today it’s been completely reinvented — a living cultural corridor lined with restaurants, craft bars, galleries, street vendors, muralists, and the famous Tijuana Arch (El Arco). Our walking tour covers the full length of La Revu with historical context, stories, and stops that go far beyond what you’d discover on your own.
Comfortable walking shoes are the single most important thing — you’ll walk 3 to 5 miles over 6 hours, and you’ll be on your feet the entire time. Wear casual, weather-appropriate clothing (Tijuana has very similar weather to San Diego). Bring your US passport, USD cash for food and drinks ($15–25 per person recommended), sunscreen, sunglasses, and your phone for photos. Do not bring large bags, expensive jewelry, or valuables you wouldn’t bring to any major city. We recommend leaving extra items in your locked car on the US side of the border before crossing.
Our Tijuana Walking Tour requires a minimum of 2 people to run. Solo travelers are welcome to contact us — we occasionally run open group tours where solo guests can join an existing group. Text us at (619) 333-6245 with your date and situation and we’ll let you know what’s available. For groups of 6 or more, we offer completely private dedicated tours — just your group with your own guide for the full 6 hours. Contact us directly for private group pricing and availability.
Downtown Tijuana is approximately 20 to 25 miles from downtown San Diego — about 30 minutes by car to the San Ysidro border crossing. The tour runs for 6 full hours in Tijuana, and your total time from San Diego and back (including both border crossings) is typically 7 to 8 hours. It is 100% a comfortable same-day trip — no hotel, no overnight stay, no complicated logistics. Many guests finish the tour, cross back into San Diego, and are home in time for dinner. It’s one of the most unique day trips available from anywhere in the US.
Absolutely — group tours are some of our most popular bookings. For bachelorette parties, birthday groups, office outings, or any group of 6 or more, we run completely private Tijuana Walking Tours with just your group and your own dedicated guide. We can customize the itinerary to spend more time at the craft beer bars, add extra taco stops, or include specific experiences based on what your group loves. Text us at (619) 333-6245 with your group size, occasion, and preferred date and we’ll put together a custom quote within 30 minutes.
Your $20 per person deposit is fully refundable if you cancel 48 hours or more before your scheduled tour date. We genuinely want you to book with complete peace of mind — if something comes up in your life, just text us at (619) 333-6245 and we will take care of it with no hassle, no hard feelings, and no runaround. Life happens and we understand. Same-day cancellations or no-shows forfeit the deposit, but we’ll always work with you if you let us know in advance.
Yes — children are welcome on the Tijuana Walking Tour. We recommend ages 10 and up for the 6-hour walking format, as younger children may find the distance and pace tiring. The tour covers 3 to 5 miles of walking over 6 hours with regular stops. If you’re bringing younger children, contact us and we’ll discuss the itinerary to make sure it works for your family. Tijuana is a fantastic cultural experience for curious kids — the food, the murals, the energy of the city — and many parents say it’s one of the best things they’ve done with their families.
Booking is simple: text us at (619) 333-6245 or WhatsApp us with your preferred date, time, and group size. We reply within 30 minutes (8am–9pm daily) and confirm your availability instantly. Once confirmed, we send you a Stripe payment link for the $20/person deposit — that’s all you need to lock in your date. The remaining $60 per person is paid the morning of the tour at the meeting point by cash or card. After booking, we send you the exact meeting location, what to bring, and everything you need to know before the day.
All transportation within Tijuana is included in the $80 per person price, but food and drinks at the taco stops and craft beer pub are intentionally not included — and here’s why: the experience of choosing and paying for your own authentic Tijuana street tacos (usually $2–5 per taco) and your own local craft beer is part of what makes this tour feel real and immersive, not packaged and sanitized. Your guide will order for you, explain every dish, and make sure you try the right things. Budget $10–25 USD per person for the full food and drink experience. Most guests spend about $15.
The Tijuana Walking Tour pairs perfectly with our other experiences. Many guests do Tijuana in the morning and Valle de Guadalupe in the afternoon — the ultimate Baja day from San Diego.
