Yes — you need a valid US passport or passport card to re-enter the United States after your tour. Going into Mexico, a state ID is technically accepted, but you absolutely need your passport to return. We strongly recommend every person in your group carries their US passport on the day of the tour. Without it, re-entry into the US could be significantly delayed or even denied by US Customs. Our guide will remind the whole group about this at the meeting point before crossing. If anyone in your group doesn’t have a passport, contact us and we’ll help you figure out the best plan before your date.
Crossing south into Mexico is fast — typically 5 to 10 minutes. You simply walk through the turnstile, no vehicle inspection, no long lines. Crossing back north into the US takes longer — usually 20 to 60 minutes on weekdays, and up to 90 minutes on busy weekend afternoons. We plan the tour timing to account for this so you’re never stressed or rushing. Your guide waits with you through the entire return crossing and makes the experience as smooth as possible. The San Ysidro Port of Entry is the single busiest land border crossing in the world — it’s actually a fascinating thing to experience firsthand.
Avenida Revolución — known locally as “La Revu” — is the most iconic street in Tijuana and one of the most historically significant streets in all of Baja California. During US Prohibition in the 1920s and 1930s, Americans flooded south to Tijuana for alcohol, nightlife, and entertainment, and La Revu was the center of it all. Today it’s been completely reinvented — a living cultural corridor lined with restaurants, craft bars, galleries, street vendors, muralists, and the famous Tijuana Arch (El Arco). Our walking tour covers the full length of La Revu with historical context, stories, and stops that go far beyond what you’d discover on your own.
Comfortable walking shoes are the single most important thing — you’ll walk 3 to 5 miles over 6 hours, and you’ll be on your feet the entire time. Wear casual, weather-appropriate clothing (Tijuana has very similar weather to San Diego). Bring your US passport, USD cash for food and drinks ($15–25 per person recommended), sunscreen, sunglasses, and your phone for photos. Do not bring large bags, expensive jewelry, or valuables you wouldn’t bring to any major city. We recommend leaving extra items in your locked car on the US side of the border before crossing.
